Fund Raising for Charity, Brian Everett, MBE
During the past 20 years, I’ve raised over £220,000 for a variety of charities, Cancer Research (UK), Help for Heroes, Alzheimer’s Society, British Heart Foundation, as well as local charities.
The challenges undertaken include climbing some of the world’s highest mountains, including 5 active volcanoes, on all continents, long distance cycle rides (over 1,000 miles) and many long-distance walks (each more than 100 miles) both within the UK and Europe.
My current challenge, started in 2017, is a “walk around the world”, the equivalent to the equatorial circumference of the earth. On this occasion, I’m raising funds for Alzheimer’s Society in the fight against dementia. I aim to complete this challenge before I reach 90 on the 17thJune next year. I’m well on target, having already covered 24,441 miles, leaving just another 460 miles to go. A daily average of 8.7 miles since the start of the challenge, despite having a hip replacement and medical complications during the last year.
I realise there are many calls for people’s charitable giving, but I do hope that you may find time to support me in this worthy cause.
